Huh. My perspective on food is almost diametrically opposed to yours: I tend to think that if it's tasty, it can't be dubbed 'wrong', and that combining flavours from different parts of the world is simply a part of the artistry of cooking and more conventionally minded (or "purist") cooks need to get over themselves. 'Cause if they don't, they're missing out!
